Deir al-Balah Municipality: Removal of rubble is impossible due to ban on entry of heavy machinery

GAZA, Oct. 16 (YPA) – Tariq Shaheen, director of Deir al-Balah Municipality, in the central Gaza Strip, confirmed today that approximately two million tons of rubble need to be removed just to open the main roads and streets. However, this is currently impossible due to the occupation’s refusal to allow the entry of equipment and heavy machinery.

Shaheen stated, “We need hundreds of trucks to operate in the Gaza Strip to speed up the process of moving the rubble outside the borders of the sector.”

The official also pointed out that hundreds of dangerous, suspicious objects remain scattered throughout homes and streets in Gaza, posing a significant risk.

He emphasized that the relevant authorities cannot handle them due to a lack of capabilities and equipment.
