STC suppress popular rallies marking October 14 Revolution in Aden

ADEN, Oct. 15 (YPA) – Armed factions affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) attacked on Tuesday people celebrating the 62nd anniversary of the October 14th Revolution in Crater Square in Aden city, south of Yemen.

The celebrants were demanding improved basic services and the provision of salaries.

Meanwhile, the Coordination of Civil and Human Rights Forces condemned the attack, describing it as a “flagrant violation of the right to peaceful demonstration and freedom of expression”.

It held the authorities and armed factions fully responsible, demanding an urgent investigation and accountability for those responsible for the use of force against demonstrators. The Coordination affirmed its continued peaceful approach to achieving citizens’ demands.
