SANAA, Oct. 11 (YPA) – The Specialized Criminal Division in Sanaa began on Saturday the first sessions of the trial of the two defendants in the case of the kidnapping, rape, and murder of the child “Anhar Al-Amiri” (8 years old) in Bayda province, where the court’s preliminary verdict was read out.
The ruling convicted the two defendants of the crimes of kidnapping, rape, and premeditated murder, and sentenced the convict, “Ziyad Abdullah Al-Amiri” (19 years old), to death by gunshot.
The court also sentenced the other defendant, “Ahmed Abdullah Al-Amiri” (17 years old), to ten years in prison and ordered him to pay blood money (Diyya) and compensation.
According to the indictment, the two convicts deceptively kidnapped the child from in front of a relative’s house, raped her, then strangled her and threw her body into a well.
The victims’ legal guardian’s lawyer submitted a partial appeal petition against the ruling for the first defendant, and the second defendant’s attorney also submitted an appeal petition, leading to the postponement of the session until next Saturday.
