Trump describes Hamas leaders as “strong, smart negotiators”

WASWHINGTON, Oct. 11 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump described Hamas leaders as “very strong and smart negotiators,” commenting on the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between the Israeli occupation and the movement.

Trump’s remarks came after the announcement of the agreement, which was reached after four days of indirect negotiations sponsored by Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, with US supervision.

Trump highlighted the strength of the parties involved, stressing that Hamas leaders realize that any retaliation, in referring to the resumption of bombing, would be enormous and unbearable. He also noted that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip would be carried out with the help of wealthy countries in the region.

The agreement, announced last Thursday, stipulates the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and approximately 1,700 other detainees from Gaza in exchange for a prisoner deal.
