LAHJ, Oct. 06 (YPA) – Several districts in Yemen’s southern Lahj province, controlled by Saudi-led coalition forces, are facing an unprecedented and severe shortage of household cooking gas.
Local sources report that gas supplies have completely run out in the three Yafa districts — Lab‘ūs, Al-Maflahy, and Yahr — with residents having received no gas deliveries for the past three consecutive months.
Local residents said that the gas is unavailable at both retail outlets and distribution centres, leading to a rise in black market activity.
They have called for the immediate release of their districts’ gas allocations.
They indicated that the shortage of household cooking gas has led to the spread of a black market, raising questions about the distribution mechanisms in coalition-held areas.
