Adalah center condemns Ben-Gvir’s statements, reflects repressive Israeli approach to int’l activists
SANAA, oct. 05 (YPA) – Adalah’s human rights center condemned on Sunday the statements made by extremist Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who praised With the arbitrary measures the Israel Prison Service took following the arrest of participants in the Global Sumud Flotilla.
In a statement, the center emphasized that these statements clearly reflected the official Israeli approach of repression and mistreatment against activists and international solidarity activists.
The center noted that it had documented serious violations against detainees on the flotilla intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters, stressing that these practices flagrantly violated international humanitarian law regarding the protection of civilians.
The statement stated that the violations included degrading conditions, most notably denial of access to lawyers, prohibition of visits, and the use of physical violence against detainees.
The center also noted that some of the female participants were forced to remove their headscarves, describing the procedure as “humiliating and contrary to all human values”. Adalah called on the international community to investigate these violations and hold those responsible accountable.
