Al-Mashat praises Colombian president’s stance, denounces Washington’s stance against him

SANAA, Oct. 02 (YPA) – The President of the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, Mahdi al-Mashat, on Thursday denounced the US position regarding Colombian President Gustavo Petro following his statements in support of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

President Al-Mashat lauded the Colombian President’s “courageous humanitarian stance,” particularly his call for the “formation of a global army to liberate Palestine and arrest war criminals.”

Al-Mashat described President Petro’s decision to sever his country’s relations with the “Zionist enemy entity” and expel Zionist diplomats as a “brave stance that normalization-seeking Arab and Islamic countries should have taken.”

He affirmed a commitment to standing with the “free peoples” who champion humanitarian causes, chief among them the injustice against the Palestinian people.

Al-Mashat also praised the courage of activists in the Global Solidarity Flotilla for their attempts to break the siege on Gaza. He asserted that “sea pirates” are preventing the humanitarian fleet’s arrival, and that the United Nations “should have stood by the Palestinian people” in accordance with its principles of achieving international peace and security.

President Al-Mashat reiterated Yemen’s firm stance alongside the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza amid the ongoing “American-Zionist onslaught.”
