Pro-coalition commander survives assassination attempt in Lahj

LAHJ, Sept. 30 (YPA) – The commander of the Salafi “Second Al-Amaliqa Brigade” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, Hamdi Shukri al-Subaihi, survived a failed assassination attempt on Monday by an unknown sniper in the Al-Sabaiha district of Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen.

Local sources confirmed that the assassination attempt occurred while Al-Subaihi was in the area to participate in a tribal reconciliation process.

Sources accused elements within the UAE-backed forces loyal to “Tariq Saleh” of being behind the assassination attempt on Al-Subaihi’s life. They explained that the operation is part of a “conspiracy to eliminate leaders” who are obstructing the expansion of Saleh’s factions into the coastal areas of Al-Madaribah and Ras al-Arah, which overlook the Bab al-Mandeb strait.

The sources indicated that there is an effort to incite chaos and armed conflict among the Al-Sabaiha tribesmen, following the removal of the “Ninth Brigade” factions from the area.

They added that the attempted assassination of Al-Subaihi aims to ignite the situation and provoke clashes among the tribes, who are considered an “obstacle” to the expansion of Tariq Saleh’s factions towards Ras Imran at the western entrance to the city of Aden.
