GAZA, Sept. 25 (YPA) – Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner-general of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), on Thursday called for urgent international action regarding the growing famine and humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.
He added, “Without immediate international support, millions of Gaza residents will face famine and a worsening humanitarian crisis”.
The commissioners- general stressed that UNRWA currently holds sufficient food stockpiles in its warehouses in Arish, Egypt, enough to cover the needs of the entire population of Gaza for more than three months.
The Gaza Strip is experiencing catastrophic living and humanitarian conditions as a result of the ongoing blockade, mass displacement, and relentless Israeli bombardment — all of which have dramatically worsened the daily suffering of its population.
