Abyan, Sept. 18 (YPA) – A former commander affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) reportedly raided civilian homes and abducted three young men, taking them to an unknown location in Yemen’s southern Abyan province.
Informed local sources confirmed that the former Security Belt commander, Mohammed Samqa, along with a group of armed men, stormed the homes of residents from the Al-Dhalqi family in Al-Wade’a District on Wednesday evening and abducted three young men, without providing any explanation for the action.
According to the sources, the abducted individuals were identified as Salem Mohammed Al-Hawzah, Ali Ka’noun, and one member of the Al-Dhalqi family, sparking widespread anger among local residents.
Residents demanded the immediate release of the abducted youths and called for an urgent investigation into what they describe as serious abuses carried out by Mohammed Samqa and his armed group.
Abyan’s districts have been witnessing ongoing violations reportedly carried out by STC forces, including arbitrary arrests, kidnappings, extortion, and the elimination of political and social opponents under purely regional and sectarian pretexts, severely impacting local residents.
