TUNISIA, Sept. 10 (YPA) – The Global Steadfastness Flotilla, which comprises hundreds of activists and volunteers in the 38th attempt to break the blockade on Gaza, announced that on Tuesday the boat “Alma” was attacked again by a drone while it was stationed in Tunisian waters.
The Flotilla’s administration stated in a news statement that the boat, sailing under the British flag, sustained damage as a result of a fire that broke out on its upper deck caused by a drone.
The crew was able to control the blaze, with no injuries reported among passengers or sailors.
The statement confirmed that an immediate investigation had been opened into the incident, and that details would be announced later.
This was the second attack in two days, following the targeting of the “Family” boat early Tuesday with an incendiary drone off the Tunisian coast, which caused a fire before Tunisian authorities intervened to bring the situation under control.
The fleet’s management held the Israeli occupation responsible for these repeated attacks, noting that they came in the context of the ongoing military escalation against Gaza and an attempt to disrupt humanitarian efforts aimed at breaking the blockade.
It added, “Our journey is peaceful, aiming to show solidarity with the besieged Palestinian people, and these attacks will not deter us from moving forward.”
