GAZA, Sept. 06 (YPA) -The Israeli army dropped leaflets, Saturday, over wide areas of Al-Nasr Street and the Al-Shati Refugee Camp in Gaza, announcing that the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis in southern Gaza as “a humanitarian zone,”
The leaflets, which were addressed to residents of Gaza City and anyone within its vicinity, called for people to evacuate the city towards the Al-Mawasi area, claiming it would offer better humanitarian services.
“Starting immediately, to facilitate the safe departure of residents, we declare the Al-Mawasi area a humanitarian zone where efforts will be made to provide enhanced humanitarian services. Rashid Street will be designated as a humanitarian route, allowing for a swift, inspection-free exit by vehicle. Additionally, renovation work is underway at the European Hospital to improve medical services for the population,” the leaflets read.
The leaflets are widely seen as an attempt to pressure civilians into fleeing to unsafe areas in the southern Gaza Strip, amid ongoing fighting and Gaza City’s designation as a dangerous combat zone, with the goal of displacing its residents.
