Israeli occupation continues to detain 726 Palestinian martyrs’ bodies

GAZA, Aug. 27 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation has continuing to detain the bodies of 726 martyrs from Palestinian people since the bloody aggression began on Gaza in Oct, 2023.

Hamas said in a statement that the bodies were distributed between numbered cemeteries and special refrigerators, some of them for decades, while the occupation has escalated this inhumane policy in an unprecedented manner during the brutal genocidal war that it has been waging against the Palestinian people for nearly twenty-three months.

The statement affirmed that “the occupation’s detention of the martyrs’ bodies is a heinous Zionist crime that reveals its sadism and brutality”, calling for international action to expose the occupation and pressure it by all means to recover them.

It considered the serious crimes and violations the occupation has been committing against the bodies of Gaza’s martyrs since October 7, 2023, to constitute a flagrant violation of all international and humanitarian laws.

The movement called on the United Nations, through its various institutions and human rights and humanitarian organizations, to the serious action and pressure on the occupation in all international forums to abolish the “cemeteries of numbers” crime, compel it to cease its policy of withholding the bodies of martyrs, and safeguard the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to honor their martyrs, who will remain a beacon of sacrifice and defense of the land and holy sites.
