Brazil rejects accreditation of new Israeli ambassador
BRASILIA, Aug. 26 (YPA) – Brazil has rejected the accreditation of the new Israeli ambassador, Gali Dagan, prompting “Israel” to respond by downgrading diplomatic relations and declaring Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva a “persona non grata.”
In an official statement, “Israel” announced that Brazil had not approved the appointment of Gali Dagan as its new ambassador, indicating that relations between the two parties would continue “at a lower diplomatic level.”
Following Brazil’s rejection of the ambassador, “Israel” said it would lower the level of its diplomatic representation in Brasília, a move that reflects the escalating tensions between the two sides.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry also issued a statement declaring that Brazilian President Lula da Silva had become “persona non grata” in an unprecedented escalation.
