Zelenskyy says he could meet Putin but only after receiving security guarantees

KIEV, Aug. 22 (YPA) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday he could meet Russian President Vladimir Putin but only after his country had received security guarantees.

Speaking to reporters, Zelensky told Agence France-Presse (AFP): ” We want to have an understanding of the security guarantees architecture within 7–10 days. And based on that understanding, we aim to hold a trilateral meeting” also with US President Donald Trump.”

He also suggested that Switzerland, Austria, or Turkey could potentially host the talks.

Meanwhile, Hungary has offered to host possible peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, presenting itself as the only European country maintaining good relations with both Trump and Putin.

President Putin, who had previously rejected the idea of such a meeting, has now agreed in principle to meet with Zelensky — though no date or location has yet been set.
