Sanaa-based GPC declares canceling any public or media celebrations in solidarity with Gaza

SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based General People’s Congress (GPC) announced on Tuesday it would canceled any public or media celebrations marking the anniversary of its founding, which falls on August 24.

This is step came based on religious, national, moral, and humanitarian responsibility toward the Palestinian people and the residents of the Gaza Strip, and the shameful crimes of murder and starvation to which Palestinians are being subjected.

In a statement, the GPC affirmed its support for the heroic operations the Yemeni armed forces carried out in support of Palestinian people in Gaza, as a religious, humanitarian, and moral duty.

The statement pointed out that Yemen’s stance, led by Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, would be recorded in history, because it was a stance based on awareness, insight, and a belief in the necessity and importance of assuming responsibility before God, Islam, and the human conscience.

It also stressed the need to preserve the unity, sovereignty and independence of the nation, as well as to confront aggression and blockade, rejecting foreign interference and guardianship over the Yemeni people by any party.

The statement emphasized the importance of ensuring the unification of the internal front and rejecting any attempt to tamper with it.

It explained that the Yemeni people rose up to support the Palestinian people and the residents of the Gaza Strip with all the military, political and media capabilities available to them.

The GPC’s statement indicated that it would direct the efforts of its leaders and members to attend events supporting Gaza and to cover all matters related to advocacy for the Palestinian people and the residents of Gaza, who are subjected to all forms of killing, torture, starvation, and violations the Zionist occupation’s committing in the Strip.

It reiterated its strong condemnation of the ongoing Zionist attacks on Yemen, its capabilities, and its infrastructure, stressing that the Zionist entity’s participation in the aggression against Yemen exposed and dispelled the pretexts behind which those who have sold themselves out and become tools serving the Zionists and promoting their project at the expense of Yemeni blood.
