Israeli Defense Minister threatens Yemen after bombing Lod Airport

AL QUDS, Aug. 17 (YPA) – Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz threatened Yemen on Saturday with “paying a heavy price” if missile attacks against “Israel” would continue.

This came in the first official response to Sanaa forces’ bombing of Lod Airport near occupied Jaffa (known as Tel Aviv) with a ballistic missile.

In a televised remark, Katz said that “Israel is imposing a painful air and sea blockade on Yemen, targeting its infrastructure, and that these measures are only the beginning,” indicating the occupation’s intention to escalate its military operations.

Analysts viewed Katz’s statements as an implicit admission of Israeli responsibility for the blockade imposed on Yemen for nearly ten years, alongside the Saudi-led coalition.

Earlier in the day, the occupation aircraft launched new raids on the Yemeni capital Sanaa,  targeting the Harez Central Power Plant in the Sanhan district, south of the city, causing extensive damage to the vital infrastructure of the civilian facility.
