Worshipper killed, others kidnapped in Nigeria attack

ABUJA, Aug. 14 (YPA) – An armed attack was carried out in Sokoto State, northwestern Nigeria targeting a mosque during dawn prayers, killing one person and kidnapping several worshippers by an unknown armed group.

Local sources reported that the incident occurred in the village of Marnona in the Warno area, where gunmen stormed the mosque during dawn prayers and opened fire indiscriminately, causing panic and fear among worshippers.

Eyewitnesses said the sound of gunfire spread throughout the village, prompting many residents to flee their homes. The attackers then kidnapped a number of worshippers before fleeing.

Residents confirmed also that the gunmen were equipped with sophisticated firearms, but the identity of the attackers and the motive for the attack remained unknown.
