OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Israeli occupation government deliberately pursued a policy of withholding aid and food from Gaza as a strategy to break the ceasefire and pressure Hamas into surrendering, despite opposition from senior military and intelligence officials, Mondoweiss reported .
According to leaked government meeting transcripts obtained by Israel’s Channel 13 and reviewed by Mondoweiss, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected several proposals earlier this year that could have led to the release of remaining Israeli hostages during a ceasefire period between January and March 2025.
Instead, Netanyahu decided to break the ceasefire, going against the advice of top military and security officials, and cut off all aid to Gaza in order to “force Hamas to surrender,” according to the leak.
The Israeli cabinet was scheduled to meet on March 1 to assess the progress of the ceasefire and launch a second phase, which was intended to begin discussions on a permanent resolution to the conflict. However, the leaked documents suggest that instead of moving forward with talks, the government shifted its strategy toward military escalation.
