UAE brings in US experts to Mukalla for high-risk mission

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 06 (YPA) – A team of US experts arrived at Al-Rayyan Airport in the city of Mukalla, the capital of Yemen’s Hadramout governorate, in the past few hours, multiple sources have confirmed

According to sources, Emirati forces who have used the airport as a joint military base with US forces since 2016, brought in a security team from an American private company last Wednesday.

The UAE’s deployment of the American team came in the aftermath of a wide-scale campaign of abductions targeting activists who have been protesting against the Emirati presence in the coastal districts of Hadramout, the sources elaborated.

The sources did not reveal the specific mission of the team, amid increasing allegations that the UAE may be planning interrogations and potentially extrajudicial killing of political activists detained in secret facilities at the airport.
