HADRAMOUT, Aug. 05 (YPA) -The “Revolution of Hungry” and the organizing committee of protests in Seiyun, the centre of the Hadramout Valley, accused Saudi Arabia and the UAE of enforcing a policy of starvation and a war on public services in southern Yemen.
In a statement, the committee held the Saudi-led coalition, particularly Saudi Arabia and the UAE, fully responsible for the severe crises and escalating suffering in the southern governorates, which have worsened over the years.
The statement emphasized that the current dire situation is a result of the total failure of the “Presidential Leadership Council” and the government loyal to the coalition in managing the economy and public services, along with their neglect of Hadramout’s citizens.
The protesters called for the accountability of corrupt officials and those responsible for the suffering, without discrimination or political protection for any party.
They also reiterated their call for the removal of all the forces of the First Military Region from all the districts of Wadi Hadramout.
The statement strongly condemned the brutal crackdown on protesters Sunday evening and warned all traders and importers against manipulating the prices of essential goods.
It also called for an immediate reduction in fuel prices and urged accountability for the oil company over its manipulation and delays, which have increased the financial burdens on citizens.
The statement emphasized that popular protests would continue until the demands of the people are fully met.
