Iran: Hundreds of spies arrested, plots to assassinate 23 officials foiled

TEHRAN, July 28 (YPA) – The Iranian Ministry of Intelligence stated that the 12-day war was a hybrid attack planned by “Israel” and Western countries to sow chaos within the country.

The ministry announced the “arrest of hundreds of spies and terrorists and the thwarting of dozens of plots and sedition,” noting that “dangerous terrorist plans to assassinate 23 officials during the Israeli war on the country were thwarted.”

The ministry issued a clarifying statement detailing the dimensions of what it described as the “silent battle with NATO intelligence” during the twelve-day war. It stated that “the aggression launched by the satanic and hostile front led by the United States and the Zionist entity against Iran was not merely a limited military operation targeting nuclear and defense capabilities and facilities, but rather a comprehensive and complex war plan.

The plan relied on intertwined elements, including military, security, intelligence, perception warfare, suggestive operations, assassinations, sabotage, destabilization, and the incitement of internal chaos, with the aim of forcing the country to surrender, overthrowing the sacred system of the Islamic Republic, and tearing apart Iran’s unity.”

“This plan was prepared under the supervision of the hypocritical US administration, implemented by the criminal Zionist gang, with the cooperation of several European countries, and with the assistance of anti-revolutionary groups, Takfiri terrorists, and outlawed militants,” the ministry added.

It noted that “the preparations for this war were not limited to military and armament preparations but also included complex arrangements that included attempts to launch negotiations, exploiting some international organizations by directing false and unjust accusations against Iran of violating its nuclear obligations, and issuing an unjustified and illegal resolution by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency against Iran.”
