GAZA, July 26 (YPA) – Director of Medical Relief in Gaza, Mohammed Abu Afsh, revealed this Saturday morning that about 17,000 children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition.
In a televised interview, the Medical Relief Director warned of malnutrition deteriorating to stage five among children, which could lead to their death.
“Mothers in hospitals are unable to breastfeed due to their suffering from severe malnutrition,” he added.
He noted that the lack of water and hygiene has exacerbated skin infections among children.
Mohammed Abu Afsh pointed out that they have exhausted all resources of medicines and painkillers in hospitals.
Since the beginning of last March, the Israeli enemy authorities have imposed a siege and a strict closure of the Gaza Strip crossings, preventing the entry of thousands of trucks loaded with food, humanitarian, and medical aid, which has exacerbated the humanitarian situation in the Strip.
The severity of the famine has escalated in recent weeks, in light of the lack of aid and the inability of citizens to obtain flour and the most basic necessities of life.
