Two injured as rockets hit military section of Kirkuk Airport

KIRKUK, July 01 (YPA) 0 At least two people were slightly wounded when two rockets hit the military section of Kirkuk airport in northern Iraq late on Monday, according to Iraqi authorities.

A statement from the Kirkuk Airport administration confirmed that the rockets landed near the military side of the runway, but noted that the incident did not disrupt air traffic.

The injured individuals received medical treatment and they are  in stable condition.

In a separate incident, local sources reported that a rocket  fell in the Al-Orouba neighborhood of Kirkuk province.

No injuries or significant damage were recorded.

Iraqi security forces have launched an investigation to determine the nature and origin of the object.

These incidents come amid heightened security tensions in several areas of Iraq, sparking calls for enhanced protective measures at vital facilities.
