HADRAMOUT, June 17 (YPA) – Emirati factions stormed the home of human rights activist Ali al-Yazidi, on Tuesday, in the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadramout governorate, eastern Yemen.
A human rights source said that “elements of the Hadrami Elite, funded by the UAE, stormed the home of the Yazidi activist against the backdrop of a call to carry out an open sit-in next Thursday in Mukalla to protest the power outage that lasts for more than 15 hours a day.”
He added that the elements did not find al-Yazidi at home, so his brother was arrested and released on bail hours after the house was stormed, indicating that the house was stormed under the direction of local leaders loyal to the coalition.
He pointed out that the failed attempt to kidnap the Yazidi activist will not curb the popular anger called for by the youth of Mukalla in rejection of the collapse of services, most notably electricity, coinciding with the high summer temperatures, the lack of water, and the deterioration of health and living services.
