STC forces crack down on protest demanding justice for abductees in Aden

ADEN, June 17 (YPA) -The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s forces on Monday evening, opened fire to disperse protesters  in the “Million-Man March for Justice” in central Aden on

The protest demanded the disclosure of the fate of those forcibly disappeared and abducted.

Local human rights sources reported that STC elements fired live rounds into the air near demonstrators as they marched toward Al-Oroudh Square in the Khormaksar district.

According to the same sources, hundreds of participants in the demonstration — organized by the Al-Jaadani tribe — were insulted and mistreated by STC members while being detained in Khormaksar.

The protest aimed to pressure authorities to reveal the fate of Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani, who was abducted a year ago.

Sheikh Mohammed Sakin Al-Jaadani, a tribal elder from Abyan, warned of serious consequences if STC factions continue to suppress freedoms.

He emphasized that “justice is not a negotiable demand, but a constitutional and human right that cannot be compromised.”

He further affirmed that the Al-Jaadani tribe, along with other tribes from Abyan and across the South, remain committed to holding the “Million-Man March for Justice” in Aden.

This comes after thousands of people from Abyan tribes were blocked from entering Aden and detained at the Al-Alam checkpoint, east of the city, amid what were described as systematic and provocative acts of regional discrimination.
