Israeli occupation forces admit death of 4 elite soldiers in Khan Yunis ambush

OCCUPIED QUDS, June 06 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces on Friday admitted that four soldiers were killed and five others were injured, two of them critically, when an explosive device exploded inside a booby-trapped building during a military operation in Khan Yunis, south of Gaza.

The dead belonged to the Maglan commando unit and the Yahalom engineering unit. The explosion occurred as they raided a building targeted by a nighttime attack on Hamas positions west of Bani Suheila, causing it to collapse on them.

Initial investigations indicate that procedures for searching and inspecting the building were followed beforehand. However, the explosion occurred minutes after the force entered, raising questions about its effectiveness. An investigation is underway to understand the circumstances.

With the death toll rising to four, the total number of Israeli soldiers killed since the start of the aggression on Gaza last October has reached 866.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the incident as a “difficult and sad day,” referring to the mounting losses of the army after more than eight months of war.
