TOKYO, May 16 (YPA) – Pro-Palestinian demonstrations erupted in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, coinciding with the visit of Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar — the first such visit in 15 years.
Protesters gathered in front of several locations, including the site of Sa’ar’s press conference at the Nippon Press Center in the “Uchisaiwaicho” district, attempting to reach the venue while carrying signs labeling him a “war criminal.”
Meanwhile, intense demonstrations took place near both the Israeli and US embassies, amid heavy security presence and police efforts to disperse the crowds.
The demonstrators condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, viewing Sa’ar’s visit as an attempt to whitewash the image of the occupation internationally, despite the crimes and destruction being inflicted on Gaza.
They denounced the genocide being committed by Sa’ar’s government, asserting that such diplomatic moves cannot conceal the tragic reality faced by the Palestinian people under siege and bombardment.
