WORLD, May 08 (YPA) – Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that China and Russia will work together to safeguard the victorious outcome of World War II, and resolutely oppose hegemonism and power politics, China Central Television reported.
Xi made the remarks upon his arrival in Moscow for a state visit to the country and attendance at the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War.
The Chinese president also said that Beijing and Moscow will “promote the creation of a more equitable and reasonable global governance system.”.
“Strong relations between China and Russia have not only brought great benefit to the peoples of the two countries, but also contributed to maintaining global strategic stability and helping to build a multipolar world,” Xi Jinping noted.
The Chinese president stressed that relations between Beijing and Moscow are built on the principles of good neighborliness, friendship, comprehensive strategic cooperation and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Xi arrived in Moscow on Wednesday to attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. His visit is scheduled to last until May 10.
