Emirati opposition: Mohammed bin Zayed regime leads Abu Dhabi towards abyss

ABU DHABI, April 23 (YPA) – The opposition Change Movement in the UAE issued a strong political statement condemning the policies of the ruling regime.

The movement expressed concern that the UAE President, Mohammed bin Zayed, and his team are leading the country toward grave dangers.

The unprecedented statement, titled “He who does not protect his land… cannot be entrusted with the future of his nation,” condemned the squandering of national sovereignty over the three UAE islands: Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, which have been occupied by Iran since 1971.

The statement pointed to the UAE regime’s inability to recover any part of these territories at a time when it is engaged in bloody foreign adventures driven by illusions of power and influence. It explained that the regime has not taken serious steps internationally or legally to recover the occupied islands, preferring media silence and submission to Iran, reflecting its dubious loyalty to the regime.

The statement also addressed the UAE’s aggressive interference in the affairs of Arab countries, where the regime is immersed in foreign interference and funds wars and coups against peoples. The statement emphasized that the UAE provides significant military and financial support to the Janjaweed militias led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti) by smuggling weapons through Libya and Chad to Sudan with the aim of imposing an authority outside the state and plundering gold resources.

In Libya, the UAE is fueling conflict and divisions by supporting Khalifa Haftar against the internationally recognized government, carrying out drone strikes, and violating the UN arms embargo to transform Libya into a base of Emirati and French influence.

In Yemen, the UAE has waged a futile war and sought to divide the country by supporting separatists and creating militias such as the Security Belt, as well as supporting the Southern Transitional Council.

The UAE has exploited the situation in Somalia to finance coup attempts and establish military bases without the approval of the central government, contributing to chaos to serve its interests in controlling economic ports. While the UAE adopts a foreign policy based on hidden alliances with regional and international powers, led by Israel, the Change Movement asserted that the UAE has become a regional agent of chaos.

The movement demanded that the regime be held accountable for squandering the national sovereignty of the occupied islands and that its interference in Arab countries be brought before international courts. It also called for the UAE to withdraw from foreign conflicts, focus on reclaiming its territories, release political prisoners, and form an independent national committee to reassess foreign and security policy.

The statement concluded by stating that Mohammed bin Zayed’s regime has lost sovereignty over the UAE’s territory and has used the country’s resources to ignite wars in accordance with dubious international agendas. It stated that standing against these policies is a national and moral duty to ensure the UAE’s return to its people as a just state, free from treason.
