Hadramout witnesses unprecedented tension

HADRAMOUT, April 15 (YPA) – The oil-rich Hadramout province in eastern Yemen, affected by the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, is witnessing a major escalation.

The UAE-backed Transitional Council (STC) is taking military and civilian action in response to the activity of the Saudi-backed Hadramout Tribal Alliance, which has declared “self-rule.”

The Islah Party also entered the front line through the “Change and Liberation Movement,” led by a dissident leader from Al-Qaeda.

A local source reported that the STC is planning a huge event on April 24 to curb extremist elements under political cover.

Observers expect Hadramout to become an arena for regional conflict between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, given the complexity of the crisis due to Turkey’s intervention to support local factions. They believe that the confrontation may expand to include armed factions in the First and Second Military Regions.
