5.2-magnitude earthquake hits California near San Diego

WORLD, April 15 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck San Diego County in southern California, western United States, on Monday.

According to a statement from the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a preliminary epicenter located at latitude 33.03° North and longitude 116.76° West, with a depth of 9.0 kilometers.

Residents in northern Los Angeles, the state’s largest city, felt the tremor.

No reports of casualties or damage from the earthquake have been received.

California frequently experiences earthquakes, and seismologists warn that it is almost certain the state will be struck by a powerful quake capable of causing widespread destruction within the next 30 years.
