Laqmush tribes block international road in Shabwa

SHABWA, March 15 (YPA) – The Laqmush tribes in Shabwah Governorate (eastern Yemen) blocked the international road in the Al-Aram area until the fate of their abducted sons, held in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council(STC)’s prisons in Aden, is revealed.

In a statement, the tribes held the drivers responsible if they disregard the warning, emphasizing that this escalation came after the failure of the mediation efforts by the head of the STC branch in Shabwa, Lahmar Bin Laswad, who was given a second chance without any progress in uncovering the fate of the sons of Sheikh Saeed Meqadah Al-Qamishy, who have been forcibly abducted and hidden in the STC’s prisons in Aden since April 2016.

This comes after a few days of demands by the sheikhs and dignitaries of the Laqmush tribes in a statement addressed to the head of the STC, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, during his visit to Shabwa, urging him to reveal the fate of the sons of Sheikh Saeed Al-Qamishy, who are detained in Aden’s prisons.

The tribes stated in their announcement that they possess official documents proving their detention by the former security director, Shalal Shayea and emphasized that their patience has run out after nearly ten years of peaceful demands.
