Pro-coalition security complicit in brutal rape of child in Mukalla

HADRAMOUT, Feb. 04 (YPA) – A child was abducted and raped in the city of Mukalla, the center of Hadramout Governorate, which is under the control of Saudi-led coalition, in an incident that has shaken the Hadhrami community.

Human rights sources reported that the child, “Younis A.M.,” who is from Hodeidah Governorate, was abducted after returning from school and brutally raped in mid-November of last year by an individual in Mukalla.

The sources revealed that the director of the Rawkab Police Station in Mukalla is still complicit with the accused, despite the report and appeals filed by the child’s father, as well as the release of video footage of the abduction that exposed the identity of the perpetrator.

The incident has ignited widespread anger and outrage, along with strong condemnations of the horrific crime.

Meanwhile, local authorities have yet to arrest the accused. There are also allegations that influential individuals have accepted financial bribes to obstruct the case.

Activists from Hadramout stressed the need to safeguard children from violence and sexual assaults, which continue to occur frequently in coalition-held areas.

They held the pro-coalition local authorities responsible for the incident due to their complicity with the accused and their obstruction of bringing him to justice.
