Two U.S. Representatives vow to block arms sales to UAE over funding “rapid support forces”

WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 (YPA) – Two members of the US Congress said on Saturday that they will continue their efforts to prevent arms sales to the UAE after they concluded that the latter is supplying the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan with weapons.

“Our conclusions were based on a briefing from the administration of former President Joe Biden and other reports,” Senator Chris Van Hollen and House Representative Sarah Jacobs said.

They added: “The UAE is an important partner in the Middle East, but the United States cannot ignore its assistance and its causing of suffering to Sudan.”

They stressed that the UAE continued to arm the Rapid Support Forces, which ensured the continuation of war and destruction, and that the United States has an opportunity to end the war and restore stability to Sudan by withholding weapons from the UAE and cutting the supply chain to the Rapid Support Forces.
