UN report reveals humanitarian repercussions of Israeli aggression on Gaza

GAZA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – The United Nations revealed, in a report, the catastrophic repercussions of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip for the 447th day.

According to the report, the number of martyrs in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 45,000 since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023, including more than 13,319 children, 7,216 women, and over 107,000 people have been injured.

“Kamal Adwan Hospital is the last remaining health sector in the northern Strip,” the report said, noting that only 47% of hospitals and 37% of primary health care centers are still operating, amid escalating warnings of the spread of epidemics, which exacerbates the humanitarian disaster in the Strip.

It indicated that over 14,000 patients need urgent medical evacuation, and children face increasing psychological needs with up one million children in need of psychological and social support, explaining more than 1.9 million people have been displaced within the Strip, representing 90% of the population of Gaza.

The report affirmed that that most of the Strip’s residents live in camps, and tens of thousands of displaced people are living in catastrophic humanitarian conditions in light of the bitter cold and shortages of water and food supplies.

It stressed that 92 percent of housing units have been completely destroyed or damaged, and the Gaza Strip is suffering from Israeli evacuation orders covering more than 80 percent of its area.

The agricultural sector has suffered heavy losses, with 95% of livestock killed and irrigation systems and greenhouses destroyed.

The United Nations confirmed that the situation in Gaza has exceeded acceptable humanitarian limits, calling for urgent international action to alleviate the suffering of the population and ensure unhindered access to humanitarian aid.
