WORLD, Dec. 23 (YPA) – Brazilian authorities announced on Monday that a private plane crashed in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, resulting in the deaths of nine people.
Local media reported that the incident occurred minutes after the plane took off from Canela Airport in the mentioned state on Sunday.
The state’s governor, Eduardo Leite, arrived at the crash site to oversee the rescue operation, stating that “there are apparently no survivors among those on board” and that efforts are underway to protect local residents.
The plane crashed into buildings in the city, and video footage from the scene showed a fire breaking out.
