Hamas welcomes UN resolution to stop genocidal war in Gaza

GAZA, Dec. 12 (YPA) – Hamas movement welcomed on Thursday the UN General Assembly resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the movement called on the international community to compel the Israeli occupation government to enabling civilians to immediately access basic services and humanitarian aid, and rejecting any attempt to starve the Palestinians.

The statement confirmed that the movement would respond, in all stages of the genocidal war that has been ongoing for 14 months, to any decisions or initiatives that lead to a ceasefire.

“The war criminal Netanyahu and his fascist ministers have ignored all efforts and decisions, and continued their brutal genocidal war against innocent civilians, with full support and cover from the American administration,” it added.

Hamas called on the international community, including Arab and Islamic countries, to take steps to bring the occupation leaders, war criminals, to the International Criminal Court, in implementation of the arrest warrants issued against them, and to hold them accountable for their crimes against humanity.

On Wednesday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted, by a large majority, a resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Strip.

The resolution called for an unconditional ceasefire in Gaza by all parties, affirming the UN support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in its work in the occupied Palestinian territories.
