PMF head: Syria’s security cannot be separated from Iraq’s

BAGHDAD, Dec. 06 (YPA) – Faleh al-Fayyad, the head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), on Friday stressed that Syria represents Iraq’s vital security area that cannot be separated from Iraq, and anyone who says otherwise is delusional.

The Iraqi News Agency quoted al-Fayyad as saying during a speech at the security forum for the elders of Nineveh tribes Friday that “Iraq cannot turn a blind eye when terrorist groups supported by foreign agendas and Western interventions control Syria, and promote ISIS gangs,” stressing that Iraq wants the safety of the Syrian people from terrorist attacks.

He added, “The criminal Prime Minister of the Zionist enemy, Benjamin Netanyahu, sought to expand the conflict in the region in order to relieve pressure on the Zionist entity with its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

Al-Fayyad continued “October 7, 2023 ended all dreams of normalization, so the enemy sought to express broad responses that exceed all standards, and the real battle is between the nation and its real enemies who are usurping the land, and who want to change the awareness of our peoples.”
