Oil company sparks conflict within pro-coalition “Presidential Leadership Council”

ADEN, Dec. 03 (YPA) – A sharp conflict erupted among members of the ” Presidential Leadership Council” loyal to Saudi-led coalition, as each member tried to impose an executive official for one of the oil companies since the beginning of November.

Informed sources revealed that the head of the “” Presidential Leadership Council,” Rashad al-Alimi, canceled the appointment of academic Abdullah al-Dhambi, who hails from Shabwa, as the acting executive director of the “Yemeni Oil and Mineral Investments Company” (Wicom).

This decision came after some council members rejected it and put forward candidates who were loyal to them.

The sources confirmed that the conflict lasted for nearly two weeks, with each member claiming the right to manage the company based on the power-sharing arrangement between leaders loyal to the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Prime Minister of the coalition-backed government, Ahmed bin Mubarak, appointed al-Dhambi as the acting director of the company. However, al-Alimi canceled this decision, as it conflicted with the interests of his own oil companies.
