Egypt: We reject Zionist presence at Rafah crossing, Philadelphia axis

CAIRO, Dec. 03 (YPA) – Egypt’s foreign minister, Badr Abdel Aati, confirmed on Monday his country’s rejection of the Zionist military presence on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphi axis on the border with the southern Gaza Strip.

This came during his meeting with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed on the sidelines of her participation in the “Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza,” hosted by the Egyptian capital.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Abdel Aati stressed during the meeting “Egypt’s rejection of the Zionist military presence on the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and the Philadelphi axis and obstructing the flow of humanitarian aid.”

Abdel Aati emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire and stopping daily Zionist violations.

He also highlighted Cairo’s ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire” in Gaza, reiterating Egypt’s commitment to continuing its permanent cooperation with the United Nations to allow humanitarian aid to reach the Strip.

The foreign minister confirmed that Egypt supports the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and rejects recent Zionist decisions to stop its activities in Palestinian territories.

He called for UNRWA’s continued support and rejection of proposals to replace the agency.
