Al-Diksami calls on Yemenis to protect Socotra from Emirati tampering

SOCOTRA, Nov. 16 (YPA)- A tribal sheikh in the occupied archipelago of Socotra, located east of the Gulf of Aden, has called on the Yemeni people to protect the island from Emirati tampering.

Ali al-Diksami, the leader of the Diksam tribes in Socotra, emphasized the importance of preventing Emirati activities and constructions led by the Emirati representative, Khalfan Al-Mazrouei.

He stated that Socotra is land governed by its people, but the situation has reached a breaking point.

Al-Diksami also called on the island’s residents to oust the UAE-backed governor, Raft Al-Taqlee, for his complicity with the occupying forces, according to Al-Mahrah Net.

He held the members of the so-called “Presidential Leadership Council” and the government loyal to Saudi-led coalition responsible for the loss of Yemen’s sovereignty, amid growing calls for the expulsion of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and occupation forces from the island.

Khalfan Al-Mazrouei had returned to Socotra’s Hadibo Airport after five months of absence, under heavy security measures around the airport.

In recent weeks, extensive land seizures have been reported around the airport and other areas, carried out by Emirati companies in collusion with Raft Al-Taqlee.
