MOSCOW, Nov. 06 (YPA) – The United States has once again begun to pursue its own policy of claiming that Russia and now other countries are interfering in its elections, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday.
“Now the whole world has frozen, not in anticipation, but in fact out of fear of the electoral processes unfolding in the United States. They are constantly starting from the assumption that someone is interfering in their elections,” Zakharova was quoted as saying by Russia Today on the sidelines of the 21st annual meeting of the Valdai International Club.
Russia has rejected US intelligence claims of alleged interference in and dissemination of lies about the presidential election.
“The intelligence services have once again accused Russia and other countries of spreading lies about the US elections… within American society,” Zakharova added.
“If you listen to the American presidential candidates and how they accuse each other of lying, then other countries have nothing to do here,” the Russian spokeswoman explained.
The US elections kicked off Tuesday, months after Republican candidate Donald Trump was subjected to two assassination attempts and US President Joe Biden withdrew from the race, leaving his deputy Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate.
