UAE kills Palestinian child who escaped death in ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza
WASHINGTON, Oct. 23 (YPA) – The US news network “CNN” has highlighted the story of a Palestinian child who survived a year of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and then the UAE killed him by dropping an aid box on his head while he was sitting with his family.
The incident coincided with the UAE’s announcement of airdropping aid to the Khan Yunis area, which sparked the anger of the family of the child Sami Ayyad (3 years old) and their disapproval of the way the aid was dropped.
The child’s grandfather, Sami Ayyad, told CNN that the family was eating breakfast when the wooden pallets fell from the planes and veered towards the displacement area.
Ayyad recalled that many family members tried to hide inside their tents, but the falling package killed the three-year-old child instantly. He added that Sami’s aunt and cousin were also injured in their feet and faces, respectively.
“I was sitting here with the boy, and the moment I left him, the package fell on him,” Ayyad said.
He continued, “We don’t have hospitals; I ran like crazy, but the boy died immediately; I couldn’t save him, and blood started bleeding from his nose and mouth.”
“I don’t want help; my son is gone. He was standing there, asking me to look at the parachutes. He ran away when he saw them coming,” the boy’s father said. “There was an airstrike on people here, and he survived, but he was killed by the parachute.”
According to a UN-backed report, ongoing Israeli restrictions on the entry of aid into the Strip have depleted vital supplies, putting the entire population of more than 2.2 million people at risk of starvation.
Some 1.84 million Palestinians face high levels of acute food insecurity, according to a report published Thursday by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, which assesses food insecurity and malnutrition worldwide.
