Civil Defense in Gaza: Israeli occupation is practicing starvation policy to empty northern Gaza Strip
GAZA, Oct. 22 (YPA) – The spokesman for the Civil Defense in Gaza Strip, Mahoud Basal, said on Monday that the Israeli occupation army is systematically starving, exhausting, and abusing Palestinians in Jabalia, using excessive force to empty the area and force them to flee to Gaza City.
Basla added in press statements that the Israeli army is suffocating siege on the area and then carrying out bombing operations and ground incursions, meaning that “those who do not die from the bombing will die of hunger.”
He pointed out that some of the families that the Civil Defense teams were able to reach said that they “had not eaten food for five days since they were targeted by the occupation forces.”
After bombing residential areas, the Israeli army is now bombing shelters and any gatherings of people to force them to leave and flee to Gaza, he added.
The occupation not only forced citizens to flee but also carried out bombing, killing, torturing, and humiliating them to inflict the most martyrs and wounded. The civil defense crews struggled to carry out their tasks due to a lack of capabilities and difficulty reaching bombing sites in Israeli army-classified “red zones” that are forbidden to access, according to the Civil Defense spokesman.
He indicated that many injured people remain alive under rubble after their homes were bombed, but rescue teams are unable to reach them.
The spokesman urged international organizations and the international community to pressure Israel to allow civil defense and medical teams to reach these areas.
Basal stated that over 600 Palestinians have been killed since Israel’s invasion of Jabalia on October 5, with dozens of dead bodies still under rubble and in the streets, and civil defense teams cannot reach them.
The Israeli army’s ongoing siege, bombing, and lack of medical supplies in northern Gaza have brought the health system out of service, and medical teams cannot provide adequate services.
Basal highlighted the tragic deaths of most Israeli bombing wounded at Kamal Adwan Hospital due to inadequate medical services and urged international organizations and the international community to take responsibility for the genocide of over 200,000 Palestinian citizens in northern Gaza due to the lack of adequate supplies.
Over two weeks, the Israeli army has intensified its genocide crimes against Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip, particularly in Jabalia camp, killing, destroying, and targeting civilians and displaced shelters amid international silence.
On October 5, the Israeli army launched bombing operations on Jabalia camp and the northern Gaza Strip before announcing the start of the invasion of those areas the next day under the pretext of “preventing Hamas from regaining its strength in the region,” while Palestinians say that Israel wants to occupy the region and displace its residents.
The Israeli genocidal war in Gaza, supported by the US, has resulted in over 142,000 Palestinian dead and wounded and over 10,000 missing, causing widespread destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people.
Tel Aviv continues its massacres, disregarding UN Security Council resolutions and International Court of Justice orders to prevent genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
