LONDON, Oct. 06 (YPA) – Hundreds of thousands in the British capital, London, on Sunday demanded a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, coinciding with the first anniversary of the genocide committed by “Israel” in the Strip.
This came during a demonstration staged by civil society organizations in solidarity with Palestine, in which politicians and diplomats participated, most notably former Scottish Prime Minister Hamza Yousef, the Palestinian ambassador to London, Hossam Zomlot, and the Labor Party representative, Absana Begum.
The demonstration, which also enjoyed wide popular participation, started from Russell Square, heading towards Downing Street, where the Prime Minister’s Office No. 10 is located.
In the demonstration, the participants chanted slogans: “Palestine will remain free from the river to the sea” and “Withdraw your hand from Gaza and Lebanon.”
Some supporters of the Israeli entity tried to provoke the demonstrators by raising anti-Palestinian banners, but the intervention of the British police prevented this.
Following the demonstration, its organizers announced that more than 300,000 people participated in the event.
