Two gunmen injured in Shabwa clashes

SHABWA, Oct. 06 (YPA) – At least two people were injured in armed clashes on Wednesday the city of Ataq, the center of the coalition-held control Shabwa province.

Local sources said that the confrontation broke out between the UAE-funded al-Amaliqa factions and tribal militants west of the city.

The sources reported that members of the al-Amaliqa on a car attempted to kidnap tribal sheikh Mohammed Salem Al-Hamami and one of his companions.

Al-Hamami accused the al-Amaliqa elements of trying to kidnap the sheikh Bin Salem and loot his personal weapon without any legal right.

Al-Amaliqa elements came from areas of Yemeni west coast to Shabwa after the overthrow of the Islah Party authorities at the end of 2021, when it headed to plunder the lands of citizens from the Ehtmam tribe west of Ataq.
