Health Minister, UN official visit number of hospitals in Sanaa
SANAA, July 18 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population, Taha Al-Mutawakil, and the United Nations Resident Representative, Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Lisa Grande, visited on Wednesday the hospitals of Thawra , Jumhuri and Sabeen for Motherhood and Childhood.
Al Mutawakel and the UN official listened from Thawra Hospital director, Abdul Latif Abu Taleb, about the services provided by the Renal dialysis cente to the patients and the difficulties faced by the shortage of medicines and medical solutions and the increasing number of patients, especially displaced persons of Hodeidah.
Al Mutawakel and the Humanitarian Coordinator also briefed on services provided to patients in emergency departments, operations and laboratories.
Al Mutawakel confirmed that the health situation in Yemen is about to collapse as a result of continued aggression and siege.
He renewed the call for international humanitarian organizations working in Yemen to fulfill their responsibilities and duties towards the suffering of patients with renal failure, especially in light of the increasing deaths among patients.
The officials also briefed on the extent of the suffering of cancer patients in Yemen in the National Center for Oncology in Jamhuri hospital Sanaa and the difficulties facing its work, especially with regard to medicines, fuel and operating expenses.
The officials also inspected the conditions of patients at the burns and beauty center in Jamhuri Hospital, and the needs of the center of medicines and medical supplies.
Al Mutawakel and Grandi visited the 70th Hospital for Motherhood and Childhood, and looked at the departments of children, obstetric emergencies, nurseries and the extent of the suffering of the sick, especially the children, due to the lack of medicines and medical supplies.
The UN official expressed her regret over the health situation in Yemen, confirming her readiness to provide the necessary support to assist the health sector.
