Darkness descends on Sheikh Othman neighborhoods in Aden

ADEN, Sept. 27 (YPA) – Residential neighborhoods in the Sheikh Othman area of Aden province, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, have been plunged into total darkness since Thursday evening.

The electricity was cut off from residential areas due to the burning of one of the high-voltage cables, without the concerned authorities repairing the damage yet.

The residents suffered for nearly 24 hours as they had to use solar panels to light their homes.

For years, the electricity system in Aden has been suffering from a continuous collapse due to the deterioration of the power generation stations and the lack of maintenance of the lines, in addition to the recurring lack of fuel, especially during the summer.
