Pro-coalition colonel disregards evacuation orders of Al-Saqr Club headquarters in Taiz

TAIZ, Sept. 02 (YPA) -Colonel Mohamed Mahyoub, the commander of Rescue Police Forces” in Taiz governorate, has disregarded directives from  Rashad Al-Alimi, the President of the “Presidential Leadership Council”,  loyal to Saudi-led coalition, related to the evacuation of the Al-Saqr Club headquarters, which has been occupied for 8 years.

“While the club’s administration was ready to take over the building, they were surprised to discover that the ‘Rescue Police Forces’ had not left as ordered by pro-coalition governor Nabil Shamsan. Because of this, the administration refused to accept control of the premises with the police still inside.”

Consequently, the club administration refused to accept the premises while the police forces remained inside.

According to a well-informed source, the agreement stipulated that the Youth and Sports Office to take over the club and hand it over to the club administration. However, after the foundation stone was laid by the governor and he left, the Police forces’ commander refused to vacate, demanding transportation costs.

President Rashad al-Alimi had issued directives for the evacuation of the club premises following his visit to Taiz a few days ago.

Prior to these orders, the pro-coalition governor had instructed in late January 2024 to relocate the Emergency Police headquarters from Al-Saqr Club, which they have controlled since 2015, to the Al-Hasb Post Office building.
